This is an unfortuate example of almost total destruction of prime wildlife habitat, including rare butterfly habitat, to make way for farming. The Town of Wayland, one of the wealthiest towns of MA, decided to convert this "conservation" land back to farming to avoid the cost of occasional mowing, a thousand dollars or so in "savings".
