On January 12, 2013, I went looking for Redpolls and found two gallups. The first frame is a possible male Hoary seen in Southborough and the rest are a possible female seen in Marlborough.
On the Marlborough Redpoll, note overall light shading, her wing coverts with broad frosty whitish edges, her light rump, her fluffy leggings and her small and very bright red “poll” on her forehead.
All of these field marks lend to my belief that this is good for a Hoary, although so far I have had no confirmations....
