Note, there are varied opinions on the taxonomy of the Spring Azures.
I have choosen to follow the naming convention in accordance to the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) Checklist 2nd Edition.
Some believe there isn't a Spring Azure (Celastrina ladon) form violacea at all, but instead these individuals should be seen as a separate species, Cherry Gall Azures (Celastrina serotina) This naming is currently contrary to the NABA Checklist.
