Photographs of a family of Kestrels seen primarily during lunch time walks around Central Square, Cambridge MA.

In the summer of 2009, a nesting pair raised three young, two boys and a girl. The adult male and two young males are seen together in the last photo.

In the spring of 2010 a female has come back as of March 17 to join a single male which I've been observing throughout the winter.

I've seen this newly joined pair mating and going into a nesting place.
On June 8, I observed a young Kestrel, female I believe, looking out onto Central Square. What a sight to behold. Now on June 11, I see another. I believe there is at least a young male and female.

June 14, 2010 THE YOUNG HAVE FLEDGED!
This morning I saw 4 Kestrels. An adult male, 2 young males and a female.

June 18, 2010 Update
This morning there were 6 Kestrels seen. There were 2 adults flying in from neighborhood perches bringing food to the young. I've seen 3 males together, and this morning 3 females together. This means that there are at least 2 adults and 4 offspring, 2 boys and 2 girls. There might even be 3 girls, for a total of 7 in the family. GOOD SIZE FAMILY!
